Where the Locals Eat- Vegas- Taste Buzz Food Tours

3 Locally-Owned Las Vegas Eats

Let’s face it, we all want to find where the locals are eating whenever we visit a new destination. That’s where some of the best food is located, the kind of stuff that’s not mass-produced for the tourists. So if you’re looking for a great locally-owned Las Vegas food joint, here we’ve got three: Honey Salt, Ohlala French Bistro, and Sparrow & Wolf. These three local restaurants have built quite a reputation for providing  delicious meals made by top local chefs.

Let’s have a closer look at each one of these delightful Las Vegas restaurants!

Honey Salt – Delicious From Farm to Table

What happens when two restaurateurs put their heads together? You get a great meal!

Honey Salt is a laid-back restaurant located in Summerlin, roughly 20 minutes from the Strip. This location makes it perfect if you’re looking to step out of the business of the city and enjoy something a little more comfortable and homey.

Started by Elizabeth Blau and chef Kim Canteenwalla, this duo crafted a cozy eatery with a “house party” ambience in mind. The farm-to-table decor, made up of exposed brick and a farmhouse motif, combines the warmth of a home-cooked meal with the skill of professional chefs.

If you don’t believe us, just look at their menu!

#1 Rated Las Vegas Food Tour

Among many options to choose from, some popular choices include:

  • Lobster mac and cheese
  • “Grandma Rosie’s” turkey meatballs
  • “Green Goodness” juice (a drink described as “salad in a glass” and including kale, apples, fennel, cucumber, celery lemon, and ginger)
  • The “Grain Power” salad (including quinoa, avocado, orange, pomegranate, and more)
  • And if you have a sweet tooth, try the Brookie (chocolate chip cookie combined with a fudge brownie and salted caramel ice cream? Yes please!)

And as if that wasn’t enough, you can eat here knowing that all of the ingredients were locally and ethically sourced from organic farmers.

If you’re looking to eat in, the indoor dining room is open daily for lunch and dinner. For take out, simply call the restaurant and place your order.

Ohlala French Bistro – A Locally-Owned Las Vegas Favorite

We knew that Las Vegas had an Eiffel Tour, but who knew it would have an authentic French bistro as well? No wonder LV has earned the title of being the American City of Lights!

The Ohlala French Bistro is worthy of its name (that classic “oh la la” having served as a French exclamation for generations upon generations). With the head chef drawing upon his upbringing in the region of Provence to serve you sumptuous dishes that you’re sure to be talking about for ages to come.

Separated slightly farther away from the hustle and bustle of the strip, in a calmer northwest neighborhood in Summerlin, you can take a breath and just enjoy the moment. Bask in the natural light of floor-to-ceiling windows and savor each bite from a variety of classic French cuisine!

Just a few of the many amazing dishes you can try are:

  • Croque monsieur
  • Quiche
  • Moules frites
  • French onion soup
  • Bavette a l’echalotte
  • Filet mignon with a sauce poivre vert

And that’s just scratching the surface of the many amazing dishes you can try here. Whether you’re looking for seafood or steak, salads, cheese, potatoes, pasta, and more, you can savor it here.

There is only indoor dining but be warned –  capacity is limited. However, you can order to-go (with the exception of the moules frites to choose from for takeout and delivery, which you can order either over the phone ((702) 222-3522) or through the website.

When it comes to this place, all we can truly say is c’est formidable!

Sparrow & Wolf – A Flavor Adventure

Want to make your way to Chinatown? Yeah, so do we! That’s why we recommend the Sparrow & Wolf!

Professional chef Brian Howard, the previous toque of a now-closed Comme Ça restaurant, took off and began this passion project… and we’ve thanked him ever since.

Focusing on American cuisine and live-fire cooking techniques, Sparrow + Wolf has quickly become a favorite among locals and foodies alike. The restaurant is located on Spring Mountain Road in the Chinatown area of Las Vegas, and its cozy atmosphere and talented staff make it a perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal. Chef Brian’s passion for food is evident in every dish he creates, and his commitment to using only the freshest ingredients ensures that each meal is truly a work of art. That’s why this restaurant has been named “Best Off Strip Spot” by Forbes.

Their menu offers a wide variety of flavors, and is always changing seasonally, so you can’t go wrong no matter what you choose!

  • Koji marinated prime top sirloin
  • Coal roasted Hudson Valley duck breast
  • Braised lamb neck, brown butter beans, and parkerhouse rolls

Our mouths are watering just thinking about it (come on, just look at some of their photos)!  If you’re looking to taste food unlike any you’ve had before, Sparrow + Wolf is sure to please.
