About Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas is where the city of Las Vegas began. You might also hear it being called Old Vegas or DTLV, as the locals call it. This is where you will find all of the very first hotels and casinos in Vegas like the El Cortez, the Golden Nugget, the Plaza, and Binions.

Downtown Vegas is not just a bunch of old buildings! About 10 years ago, a very wealthy man moved his business to DTLV, bought up a lot of land in the area, and started the Downtown Project. The Downtown Project is considered the “Revitalization of Downtown.”

On your Downtown Vegas sightseeing and foodie tour, you’ll start where settlers first stepped off the train tracks and walk your way through history. You’ll learn about how Vegas first became a city and it’s transformations throughout the years. You’ll do some sightseeing at must-see attractions as you walk down Fremont Street. After exploring the touristy side of downtown Vegas, you’ll venture off the beaten path to discover where the locals hang out. As you stroll through downtown Vegas, your friendly foodie tour guide will take you to several local favorite places to grab a bite to eat. You’ll sample a variety of casual eats from smaller local businesses while learning about local culture and foodie trends.

This area of town was very cheap. Many locals started to buy property and start-up businesses in the area. Bars, restaurants, and boutique shops started popping up on Fremont Street, just east of all the casinos. We now call this area Fremont East.

As time passed, more and more people started to build in this area and it has become a very popular place for locals to hang out. Downtown Las Vegas is full of culture, arts, history, and FOOD!

Join Taste Buzz Food Tours on our Downtown Las Vegas Foodie Tour and you’ll explore all of the local favorite places and so much more!
